Weld holes on intake manifold?

I just noticed that along my intake manifold it looks like there were holes that were filled in or something. My friends think that the owner before me maybe shot NOS through it or something. I don't think that's what it is...but I could be wrong. Can someone here tell me what those holes are?

If you can please take pictures of what you are describing. It will make it much easier for everyone to dianose.

Well right now I can't really take any pictures. I will try and describe it to the best of my ability. Okay say yer looking at the fuel rail. Well, if you look just above that (north) you will see this strip of holes along the intake manifold. It's not holes, it's like dots that looked like they were welded or something. My friend was like "Dude, I bet that's where he shot in the direct port nitrous". But I don't know about my friend...he thinks he knows everything. Well anyway there are about 5 to 6 dots (what looks like to have been welded shut or something) along the intake manifold. That's about the best I can tell ya.

If there was a nitrous kit hooked up there should only be 4 holes put into the intake manifold.

Brendon2k is right... if he had a direct port nitrous system he would have only had to drill out 4 holes. If he had 5 or 6 jets running it would have been major overkill. If you had pics of the manifold it would make things alot easier.

These are not NOS nozzle holes. They are casting marks from the factory and they are on all cars. All my previous 4th gens had them, as well as my old Civic. Every 4th and 5th gen that I have worked on since then has had them as well.

Well i guess we have already settled that the holes are from the factory.

But the 5th and 6th holes could have been for propane.

Propane injection is used sometimes to get alot of power out of an engine. I have never seen it used on a Prelude, but I have seen it used on american trucks to increase towing power. Propane is used to make sure that 100% of the fuel inside the combustion chamber is burned, increasing power. It is mostly used in diesel truck engines and can boost performance in those engines by as much as 60%.

Here are some links if you want to read up on Propane injection.

I have heard of it for diesel but last I check my car runs on regular gas.

hey a friend of mine mention to me that, most direct port kits have 8 holes, two for each runner, one hole is fuel and the other is nirtous. If it looks like he was drillin into the runnin, maybe he was attenting to instal a DP kit but chicken out and tired to cover it up

This is the reason you shouldn't drink and post at the same time.

No they are the factory marks. As far as 8 holes some kits do have the fuel and nitrous seperate but kits like NOS fogger kits spray fuel and nitrous together.

Do those sit in the ports any particular way? Like.... would they all be lined up straight up and down or sideways? What makes them point in a certian direction?

Yes, you can use propane as another source of fuel in addition to the nitrous. I have a friend in Portland that has put this system on a GSR and a has used this with a large shot nitrous instead of adding fuel on stock internals for over 6 months with no problems thus far.

INTERESTING. Wonder what your exhaust smells like

Everyone at the track might think you are having a BBQ.

Okay that is good news. I counted them and there are 6 on the top and one on the side. Is that normal?
