weird oil problem

yesterday , i pulled up the oil dipstick , and there was NO oil on stick. i changed my oil 2300 miles ago , and my oil tank NEVER leaked , the " LOW OIL " light NEVER came on. what is my problem? should i change my oil anyway?

Yes, and check it frequently. You have a leak somewhere, you need to find it. If your oil light comes on its probably too late.

I had an oil pressure sensor that was leaking pretty bad right before my first motor spun a bearing.

Since it is about due, go ahead and change your oil. Then start parking it on clean pavement or put newspaper under it for a period of time to see if it is leaking....

Does the exhaust smoke at all? I wonder if you are burning oil? But regaurdless, check your oil frequently. Dipsticks are somewhat misleading, because 1 qt. of oil can raise the level an inch on the stick.

LoudLude - yes smoke does come out from my exhaust (in the morning when i warm it up) but yeah...i'll change my oil tomorrow , Kragen doesnt open today. i used 5/30 oil last time....should i change it to 10/30?

similar problem

Yeah it surprised me too, I was on a road trip and yanked my dipstick, ended up adding like 3 qts to get the oil level right. I know there is no oil leak on my car, it just burns oil like crazy. But if you keep it below 4000 rpms it shouldn't be as much of a problem.
