weak spark on h22a

just got done with a motor swap in 96 lude went from h23a1usdm to h22a jdm. fired it up and ran with a skip so after checking found out the number 3 cyl has very little to no spark. put in new rotor, check wires, changed intrenal coil and still nothing.. can anyone help please.

so you didn't use your old distributor? convert to external coil

i dont know if you just didnt do your research, but you went from obd2 to obd1. read up on what you all you need to switch over from your h23.

If the problem is cylinder specific then it is more than likely one of the following...

Bad or not gapped right plug,

Bad, broken, burnt, arcing plug wire

Corroded, broken, bent contact point inside the cap

Burnt out, worn out, corroded rotor

I agree with converting to an external coil. That is my next upgrade with a MSD ignition box. Good luck!

thanks for the help. heres what i've done . i changed the stock ecu to a p13 thats what came with the motor, i have changed the cap,rotor and coil. i read somewhere that the dizzy should be a td61u but mine is a td60u. i would use the extrenal one but the h22a harrenss is'nt wiered for that.

So you used the harness that came with the H22?

I thought you needed a harness to plug in an OBD1 ECU into a car with OBD2...

Internal coil sucks, use the US external coil. Change your dist rotor/cap and wires.

we bought a p13 ecu and a wire kit to go from obd2 to obd1. the problem is i think we got a bad ecu because the motor only runs on 3cyl with the p13 ecu. but if we put the stock ecu in it runs on all 4 cyl, just no vtec.???? help please

sounds like you solved your own problem...get a new P13
