Warning to all with stock Exhaust Manifolds....

That I know 92-94 ludes(or something like that ) if you haven't yet, check you stock exhuast manifold, it might be cracked. They're made of Cast-Iron, which is a metal that cracks somewhat easily, I'm on my second one and it's cracked again. It 's not my motor mounts causing it, there fine. A couple other guys that I know have had the same problem. SO I got some DC Ceramic headers for Valetines.....anyways, like I said, if you haven't check it, DO SO...it won't hurt to check it, it only takes a couple of min. Has anyone else fron this board had this problem as well?.....PEACE.

OK on an stock exh.mani. it has four ports.....

that turn into one right before the split(or when the top piece and the bottom piece meet). The crack usally happens on one or more of the ports(or cast-iron pipes). The cracks are usally visable since they usally start in the front of the manifold. But what happens(if you don't take care of it soon) the crack starts to go towards the back of the port. what you can do to see if it leads to the back, is get a small mirror and place it between which ever port is cracked. Then you get a flash light and point the beam of light at the mirror allowing you to see the back side of that port. But of course the only way to find out if it is cracked is to remove the heat sheild first, which is sometimes a b*tch cuz it gets stuck every now and then. Rattles that come from that area can be a couple of things. 1. a cracked manifold- 2. a loose bolt that hold the heat shield in place( there's three, 2on the top and one towards the bottom- 3. there's a piece of the sheet metal that is located on the righthand side of the heat shield, this piece is there to block heat from the Exh.Man. to the Altinator, there are two bolts that hold this small sheild in place, one by the righthand side of the big heatshield and the other is towards the bottom of the small heatsheild. Some times the bottom hole for the second bolt(of the small heat sheild) breaks and then becomes loose causing it to rattle(it happened to mine)...and I think that's it....let me know if you find anything...BUT I hope you don't..PEACE.
