Want to replace radio antenna

I know many of us have had problems with the automatic up and down radio antenna on the 4th Gen. Mine still works fine but I'm not really happy with it so i'd like to get somekind of stealthy style without a motor. I can't say that i've seen anybody with such a setup but that might be due to the fact that they have already done a change over. Any advice? Thanks Ludsters.
see you at LudeFestWest2003.

I don't think we reall have a choice Mike, unless you want to do without radio. I wish we had the antenna in the rear window like the 5th gens do.

Shave it. I'm having mine done when it goes in the paint booth. Along with everything else I can think of to shave. There aren't many aftermarket antenna options for our cars. I have looked. Although I don't listen to the radio. EVER.

Jeez, that is a disappointment. It is just another example of how rare and special the 4th Gen. Lude is that nobody makes an antenna. There is black rubber shorty from Metra for $25 that need a 1.25" hole though. I might try it or just lubricate the stocker. thanks for the info guys.

My antenna doesn't work. So I unplugged it.

I never listen to the radio in my car. I can't stand radio.

Now, I don't often listen to the radiocause I'd rather listen to the motor and the exhaust (totally not kidding). I can drive all the way to sacramento from here in slo and not listen to any music or anything but sometimes I like to crank up the radio and check out things. Now, i've seen these Fuba beta flex things. How about mounting one of those in front of the sun/moon roof?

Fit an S2000 antenna, I think they look really sweet and fit right in place with no problems.

In preperation to shave my antenna, I took it out and replaced it with a metra internal one. It sits on the windshield right above the rear view mirror.

Personally I am kind of unhappy with it...I get decent reception 50% of the time, excellent reception 20% of the time and horrible reception 30% of the time depending on radio station, where I am at, and how fast I am going.

I can take a pic of it if you guys want.

i put a switch in my center console that controls when the antenna goes up and down.
i hardly ever listen to the radio so 75% of the time it stays down, and then when i turn the radio on, i flip the switch and up it goes
i also keep it well lubed up too.

same here, though my switch is hidden under the trunk pop lever... also, the antenna motor power wire was easier to tap into at that location

i think in the middle of the back window. a small 6-7 inch rubber antenna would look sweet. u can replace the antenna wherever you want i would think. just re-route the antenna wire. probably some work to get it where u want though.

i hate my antenna... i've replaced it twice...and during the winter... it seem to freeze.. so it won't go down.. so i just disconnected it. if i could find a replacement that would go inside hte car i would of shaved it when i shaved everything else last summer.

Hey you can hook up your power antenna to your head unit so that the antenna only goes up when you turn the radio on not the CDP.

Also, I have replaced many Honda power antennas including the antenna on my Prelude with a Napa auto parts generic replacement power antenna. Why don't you guys try this route?

You just have to take the power antenna lead behind the head unit and connect to the head units power antenna lead, most newer headuntis have a serprate wire just for this function. I know almost all Aplines have it.

Thanks, I'll look for that. I assumed it was already hooked up that way since it goes up and down when I turn it on. I have a Kenwood with a CD changer in the trunk that was in the car when I bought it and I'm not sure how it is hooked up.

get satellite radio and shave the regular antenna. true the antenna (like my sirius antenna) sits on the trunk and its big and black, but i think it looks pretty decent (just make sure you get the terk roof mount, the other one looks like a giant dildo).
