VTEC wire loctions

Now befoire you start yelling at me to search I have loked all over the FAQ's and searched for this and have found very little.

In the engine swap write-ups they say that some 4th gens came prewired for VTEC. I have found the green/yellow wire next to the intake so I think mine be pre-wired. I can't find the light-blue wire anywhere. Also in the write-ups people say that the wires are taped up behind the dash. Well the dash is a rather big place, I looked near the ECU and couldn't find any wires taped up. Can someone please tell me where they are taped or even give a pic?

Thanks

The light blue wire is going to be in it own connector on the fender well to the back of where the stock airbox would be.

There is also a tach signal connector in the same location, dont get the 2 confused.

the light blue wire is going to be on one of the two big connectors near your firewall on the passenger side, from looking at the front of the car it will be to the NE of your shock tower. look for the light blue wire on the firewall side of the connector (there are two connectors, the top connector has it) that has no light blue wire coming out of the other side of the plug...

its not near the tach signal wire (if thats what it is)...its much closer to the firewall...

Hello,

Well I found the light blue wire in the engine bay, it was right where Drew said it would be. I was just looking at the wrong side of the connector. I still can't find the wires inside the car though. Where under the dash would they be taped?

Thanks again

Well I found the wires in the Engine Bay but I was under the impression that they were not already plugged into the harness going into the ECU and were just taped out of the way. Am I mistaken and they are already in the harness? I'll have to check tomarrow.

Thanks

Your car IS prewired for VTEC, just install the motor and wire up the VTEC solenoid and presure sensor to the aforementioned wire locations in the engine bay and your good to go. You dont need to do anything to the harness that plugs into the ecu other then swapping out the old ecu for the new one.

Tasty,

If you found the blue wire you may have not found the right one. The Light Blue wire that you are looking for is located in a connector with about 7 other wires. It is (veiwed from the front) at the top left corner of the engine bay. The Green/Yellow wire is easy to find, it is located on the side of the shock tower between the tower and the intake tube. It will be faceing the front of the car and the wire will come up and plug into a dead end connector.

From what I am getting here the wires inside the car are already in the harness plugged into the ECU. I was under the impression that they were not in the connector but just taped up out of the way and you needed to plug them into the connector to make it work.

Thanks
