vtec vs s\si brakes, what's the difference?

On a 4g, du?, what the difference between the brakes on a vtec vs s or si?

can you retrofit an s\si with vtec rotors\pads?

running 15" rims now maybe going to 17

Thanks

VTEC = I believe have 11.4" rotors and bigger calipers than the SI.

SI = smaller rotors and smaller calipers

rear brakes are the same on both.

I'm not sure what the S have.

VTEC has bigger calipers/rotors/pads. If you want to upgrade the rotors to VTEC sized, you need to do the other parts as well.

A lot of people just skip that and get the MUCH larger Legend or even NSX caliper upgrade, which have dual piston calipers. With these you won't have any clearance issues with the stock rims.

If I didn't want to go through the Legend\NSX hassle
sounds like I just get complete VTEC rotors\calipers\pads- that it?
not going to have to do any major work?

S brakes are much smaller...as they stock rim is 14". Si and VTEC models can't fit 14" rims because the brakes are bigger.

Yes. I've done the VTEC swap, and it's as easy as picking up VTEC calipers, VTEC-sized rotors, and the right pads. You might want to upgrade to stainless steel, braided lines, as well, while you're at it.

could you tell any difference in stopping ability?
although I guess with new(better) pads and SS lines it might be hard to judge unless you did the R\C swap first and then put on
new pads.

You have any write-up or pics on it?

Thanks

There is NO hassle when installing the bigger calipers from the NSX/Legend.. all you have to do is use one of the leftover brake pads, grind the pad material off of it and use the backing plate as a spacer. Everything else is just a simple bolt on and the EXACT same procedure as bolting on VTEC calipers and rotors.
