vtec swap questions

i have a 92 si with I/H/E and i have a few questions about the h22a swap. i have read much in post and think i got this right but i just wanted to make sure. If i get an after market vtec header can i cut the flange on my si header off and weld it to the vtec collector? i wanna run my apexi ws with the test pipe on the new motor, and i dont have enough money for the new parts. i also think i am incapable of doing this swap. i read a lot about everyone doing the swap, just think im gonna screw up. i put on all the bolt ons but thats as much as i have done. i live in tyler tx and im about 2 hours from dallas so if anyone in that region knows where i might be able to get the swap done at for a reasonable price let me know! thanks everyone

your more than likely gonna have to buy an aftermarket header, most swaps dont come with the downpipe, the come only with the exhaust manifold, not the bottom piece...or if they do come with them, theyre usually crushed, pick up a header used, vtec, it will bolt right up to your exhuast, theyre the same..and the swap is very simple..peace

dude.. i never even knew how to change spark plugs on my motor when i decided iw as gonna do the swap on my own.. yah it took me almost 2.6 weeks to do.. but i did it all.. and its agreat feeling to be able to say that it startedon the first try...

it wasnt that hard.. if you knwo how to use a socket set, some wrenches and read.. youll do fine... its really easy... and youll love doing it.. it gives you a better understanding of how your car works.. thats for sure..

and isnt modding your car all about learning... ??

I agree completly. I think it is great for people to do their own modifications. Doing them yourself not only gives u satisfaction but knowledge. Plus you don't have to worry about some shop messing around with your car or screwing up the installation. On the other hand, don't be dumb, if you don't have enough information or knowledge then have somebody help you or learn more before you attempt the installation.
