Vtec Si/SR??

alright

here goes yet another stupid question by me.

my 1993 prelude si/sr is a 2.3L non-v-tec engine. correct?
ok well.. i was readin in the racing section aobut some dude who has an integra LS who put on a v-tec system

so, is that actually possibly to do to a 2.3L prelude?
if so, how much would it cost? and would it be worth it??

-thanks guys

it is possible to swap an H22 head onto an H23 block. Not sure of the cost or of the power gains though. I decided to go with the whole engine swap.

Yes, it CAN be done. However, most of the people that have done this project have found it was not worth the cost/labor. Essentialy, the H23 block is used with the H22 VTEC head. You have to do a good bit of machine work to get the head/block to bolt up correctly. The biggest problem is reliability, since the H23 lacks the extra oil squirters of the H22 (not enough lubrication at high RPM's). There is a page that details the project, the guy spent about $2000 doing it I think. . .which is getting fairly close to a JDM H22. You could just buy the Accord Sir-T motor (which is a factory H23 VTEC) but that would probably cost $4000 and has 3 hp less than the JDM H22.

Buy a JDM H22a or...

Build a high-compression H23(dohc/non-vtec). The h22/h23 HYBRID is a waste of money, and you sacrafice the reliability that Honda is known for...

This is the way to go!!!

or this!!!
