Vtec model prewired for high mount 3rd brake light?

Can you add the high mount 3rd brake light in the back window in a 94 or 95 VTEC model? If I get this car, I think I want to shave off the spoiler, but I would still like to have a 3rd brake light and would like to add the high mount one. Is the wiring already up there?

I will swap with you. I have all the pieces you would need to put it up there.

thanks, but I don't have a Prelude yet. otherwise, I could already look up in the headliner myself to see if the wiring is there. Do you know if the plug is already up there?

I think that the plug should be there because some of the S and Si models were sold without the spoiler option. The only 4th gen that a spoiler was NOT an option was the VTEC.

Because some were going to be sold without the spoiler the 3rd brake light was mounted in the same location as the 92-93's.

On side note Steve, I guess you're going to be buying a 4th gen now. I'm just curious as to why you sold your nice 5th gen a while ago? Was the plan to buy a 4th gen all along or did you just miss the Prelude and want a cheaper model than 5th gen?

I first had the 92 Si auto. I bought it all done up like that in my picture. I graduated college and got a good job so I bought a brand new Prelude (2000 auto/SS). I went crazy and dumped close to $10K in mods on it. It was my show car and I rarely drove it. Then I sort of had a reality check. I spent all that money on a car and it just sat around all the time. I didn't see the point of it anymore. So I decided to part it out and sell it. I'm saving for a house now and already have a good chunk saved up. Yes, I miss the Prelude now (well both models I had). So I figured I can get an older 4th gen model to play with for not alot of money and also I want to learn how to drive a stick this time. I'm still not 100% sure yet if I want to buy another car or not (as a second car for summer/weekends I mean). I also feel like I'm getting too old for this hobby, I'll be 26 soon.

Gotcha Steve. I'm in the same position. I haven't used my Prelude for a daily driver in over two years. I keep putting more money into it and especially after the repaint and body work, I'm afraid to drive it for fear of seeing a rock chip in the paint or something. I recently bought a house myself and I was thinking of selling the car because it would have helped to have extra money because I am now buying a third car. Paying insurance on three cars, a mortgage, and a new car payment seems like a lot to shell out but I just can't bare the thought of letting her go yet.

Everyone thinks I'm crazy because I have a nice car that I RARELY drive and I'm going to be getting a new car.

The car just gives me so much joy when I finally do take it out on a weekend. I took the car out yesterday for the day and I was smilling all day.

When former luders like yourself mention that they miss their old Prelude it just lets me know that I am making the right decision by keeping the car because I know I would surely miss it. Even though I picked up a second job, it's worth it when I see her sitting in the garage every morning.

Get the car Steve!

Mark

The car might be pre-wired, but all the trim panels on the ceiling are different.
The cars with the inside 3rd brake light have a molded pod, whereas the models with the LED brake light on the spoiler have a smooth panel.

Also keep in mind, my car (93) has an OEM spoiler with a high mount brake light instead of the LED brake light on the spoiler.

SteveV and Mark94

I feel the same way. Even when I get my next car that will hopefully be an EVO I still want to keep my Prelude because of the massive amount of work, time and money I have put into it. I know if I sell it and see another Lude with jdm's and a nice kit not riced out I would be jealous.

i got botttttttttttttttttttttthhhhhhhhh, yea it weird i have 4 brake lights. what happen is that the former owner had a supra style spoilers, and my mom didnt' liked it, so she bought the OEM style with LED, so right now i am debating on removing my highmount stoplight, or actually mod it, and have writing light up when i brake,( might be a lil rice-ie)
