There are ways to legitimize it. Like doing the swap with certain paperwork, and getting a sticker from a smog ref that says it's 100% legal.

Yes this is possible, but you are "supposed" to apply for the motor swap first through the State Smog Ref (not those small shops) and they will give you a certificate. What I mean by "supposed to" is that you might not have to apply, just bring it to them and as long as it passes its good, must have all emissions related equipment.

You're right. You *should* apply to the State Smog Ref. Anyway, in the long run, that might be the best way to avoid hassles from popo.

Do we really have that much smog equip?

CAT and a few hoses and vaccum lines. What else?

I remember my old 82 mustang had like 100 pounds of crappy smog equip. ALL kinds of useless devices.

Is this a difficult process, or just time consuming?

Dunno, never tried. But there are people who do this willingly, so maybe it's worth it to them.

It'll be very worthy to me, once I blow my stock H23 & go w/ a JDM engine. I'm just wondering who'll pass me when I'm boosting, hehe.

I think you can have turbo'd cars certified too. I remember there was one Prelude owner in SoCal who did that.

I wonder if it wasn't the Greddy kit, as it's CARB legal. Vortech's working on getting their kits CARB legal, too, but they don't make JACK for H23's...
