VTEC - EGR CEL - How to Fix? - Honda Prelude Forum

4th Gen VTEC Lude - EGR CEL
Since lunch time I've got an intermittent CEL #12 - EGR. I haven't managed to recognise a pattern to when it comes on - but it always comes on eventually.

I've done a search on this, and a lot of people seem to have had the same problem, but I couldn't find anybody reporting that they'd fixed it and how.

Can anybody tell me how to get rid of this CEL? I don't want to bypass the EGR valve, so that option is no-go.

I thought I start by trying to clean the valve, but I couldn't get the nuts undone!! There are 2 12mm nuts, and they are quite difficult to get to. I got a ring spanner on one, but couldn't undo it due to the restricted access - anybody have any suggestions on how to undo this?

i did the trouble shoot from the helms manual when i threw that code. i found that one of my vacuum lines had come undone. try that if you have a helms, the troubleshoot should cover almost everything..good luck man

Thanks, I think I'll give it a go during the weekend.

Strangely enough the CEL didn't come on today though.
