He has the JDM ECU, which has a speed limiter/governor. I think it's limited to 118MPH?

So, you can eliminate that governor just by getting a Vafc? No hacking involved or work to the ECU?

no...the VAFC does not elimanate JDM speed goveners. If I did the swap and had a JDM P13, I would sell it and buy a USDM P13 ECU. You can use the VAFC with the JDM or USDM P13, but I'm not sure if the wire colors are the same. To install the VAFC you'll have to splice and cut into your ECU...there is no plug and play for the 4th gens. I installed mine and I HATE and dont understand wiring...so its not THAT hard. I'm not familiar with the fields vtec controller...so I can't help you there...but unless it has a speed limiter remover the only other way is to get a USDM P13...I think.

the field does have a speed limiter remover built into it. Its basically the same as the vafc, but without the fancy graphs and screen displays. But having a jdm ecu, it kinda makes me lean toward the field.

Yeah, that's an awesome attribute for the fields controller. when I decide to go vtec, I'm gonna get that one.

Go to the shop your going to be having it tuned at, and ask them what they specialize in or if they have any suggestions. That should narrow it down.

I'd rather keep the JDM P13 and just use the Fields unit or get it chipped. Doesn't the JDM P13 have more aggressive timings or fuel maps or something?

Why would you want to go over ~118mph anyways. Be safe!
