VIS says shave bumper reinforcement

So I finally order the correct bumper lights for my VIS Kombat kit, which happens to be 88 Civic Bumper lights...

I try to mount them and the steel reinforced bumper behind the VIS Bumper is in the way and it wont mount...

VIS says the kit was designed for JDM ludes and their bumper thing is smaller so I have to shave mine... WTF?!??!?!

So I gotta shave it, no choice.... My question to you guys is HOW... How do I shave that steel beam going across?? What should I use? A pocket knife? =)

um..... when i had my VIS Invader Type 2 front installed, the front bumper reinforcement had to be cut on both sides, i don't know how much..... but yes you do have to cut some off.

Good Luck

Yes, the JDM bumper reinforcements are MUCH smaller than USDM ones. . .thats why JDM cars dont meet US crash test specs. They werent lying.

Yes either use the two above or you can find someone with a plasma cutter and it would be done in less than a minute

I believe it's basicly a very hot torch, like super-heated gas or something. I know they can cut through some pretty substantialy thick metal plate

I'm confused.

What are you guys talking about? I was planning on getting the VIS Invader type 2 front bumper on my 95 lude. So what am going to have to do to install it? Will *I* have to do it or could the body shop i'd get to install it for me be able to do it?

Be very cautious when buying the invader type 2 front bumper, i ordered one, and the front lip tilted up, it was not a pretty site and there's nothing you can do about it. Another buddy of mine got the same bumper and it tilted down. I heard VIS stuff sometimes come out like this.

Anyhow, if you want to install any VIS bumper, you have to cut off some of the sides of the reinforcement because the bumper were molded from JDM preludes which have smaller reinforcement bars.

Its best to have a body shop install it for the fact no fiberglass kit ever fits perfectly unless its C-West or Aerogear (i believe).

Good Luck
