vibration when giving gas...

Hey guys,

Recently I have been noticing vibration in the steering wheel, and gas pedal, everytime I hit the gas. I know one tie rod boots is tore up. I plan to replace that soon, but anyone have any other ideas as to what make is vibrate? When I am off the gas it rides pretty smoothly. I did an alignment about 2 weeks ago when I got new tires, so I know that isn't off.

Let me know

thx

charlie

Might be a motor mount... or maybe one of your tires is out of balance. Also if you have directional tires... make sure they're turning the in right direction.

It started waaay after I had my mounts. And the tires are balanced; rotating in the same direction.

Sounds like a mount to me Charlie. If it was a bad tire or bad balance it should vibrate as long as the car is moving.

The fact that it stops when you let off the gas to coast leads me to believe it is a bad mount causing excessive engine movement and vibration.

It could be worn out axles, strut rod bushings or lower control arm bushing.

Does the vibration happen throughout the entire rev band? Or within a certain amount of revs while on the gas?

It is at a certain amount of revs while on the gas az. I can really feel it bad in 5th gear and gasing it.

I will check lug nuts. You guys think it could be CV boots?

I have the same problem but while accelerating over 60mph. It seems to come and go though and it tends to get worse with real hard accelerating in 4th and 5th gear. Im expecting the worst such as inner cv joint. I dont really know what else it would be.

Hey guys,

This problem just got worse.

I looked to see if any of the CV boots were toren but they aren't. They are in good condition actually. I checked out the tie-rod boot on the drivers side and it is ripped.

Can tie-rod boots cause this vibration?

I am betting on the CV joints... grab the axle... it should not move at all, but if it wiggles, the joints are shot. how many miles?

tie rod boots? no... tie rods? yes. they could cause this problem.

When you find out, can you tell us how much it will cost to fix. Im interested to know! I dont like dealing with cv joints myself so I got a quote from the local dealershp and to no surprise they gave me ridiculous prices, 75 for each repack or 600 for each axle replacement (Ahhhhh.......major theivery IMO)

telling you right now it is the cv's. You need a new axle. Had this happen to me so many times. Also just do them yourself it is so easy. I have had axles break on the line and changed fast enough to be ready for the next heat. If you need help changing them let me know.
