I knew a dude who had a Venom 400 in his Acura Integra GS. It was activated by a little toggle switch (on or off) and he said it would give him 25 extra HP. I asked him to see how it worked, so I went on a ride with him and he floored it in regular mode so I could feel the power. Then he flipped the switch and floored it and it felt the exact same. I asked him why he didn't leave the switch "on" the whole time and he said it got worse gas mileage.
So in conclusion, my opinion is that the Venom 400 is nothing more than one of those Ebay "chips" that claim to give your car 25, 50 or 75 extra HP by essentially disabling the electrical signal from your oxygen sensor and letting it run on "open loop," thereby making the ECU dump excess fuel into your engine. In some engines and in some instances, this will make more power, but for a 4 cyl engine, it won't. The only saving grace of the Venom 400 is that you can turn it on and off, but it won't make power.
