valve adjustment w/o tool??

Hey guys...My valves are tickin more than i like to hear so i wanna do a valve adjustment. I used to have an h23 that didnt need any facy tools, but now im bein told that the h22a requires a special valve adjustment tool. I called every part shop and the dealers here in san diego, and no one has the tool. I searched the forums and i didnt see a real answer to either of my questions. So heres my two questions:

Can the adjustment be done without the tool, and how much harder would it be?

Does anyone know where to buy one in san diego?

Thanks in advance

well its the same tool you need with the h23. its the honda tool

but you can get around it. i've seen variations of it. there is a ratchet set at sears that is basically a socket ratchet with a hole in the middle. so you can use it and have another screwdriver through the hole - if you can imagine

basically the honda tool is a socket wrench with a built in screwdriver to adjust your valves

all you need is to use a 10mm (or12mm, i forget) hand wrench, (use the colsed circle, round end of it) and a flat head screw driver. Stick the screw driver, through the open wrench and youre golden. No need to purchase anything new really, i do it this way ever time, with 100% accurate results.

It's 10mm. Most wrenches aren't angled enough to get down in there (I've looked all over the place). I bought a ratcheting style set of wrenches that also pivot at the end so I can pivot it, get it down there, adjust the valve lash, tighten as best as I can with the wrench with the screw driver in place, remove the wrench & screw driver, then finish it off with a good tug with a socket wrench. Of course sometimes the last tug with the socket wrench messes up the setting & I have to do it again. I've become fairly efficient using this method.

Wear gloves if possible, bashing your knuckles ans skinning pinkys on the studs for the cover, is painful!

I just use a Napa made chrome 10mm wrench, and thank you for clearning that up, I forgot which mm it was.

I took a 10mm deep well and put it on the grinder, griding like 6 sides on it then hammered a wrench onto it. Worked perfectly

i bent the wrench too
