Valve adjustment tool, same for H22 and H23?

I have a valve adjustment tool for my gen5. I was wondering whether it'll work on my friend's 94 Si? Its an H23, so i'm wondering.

My guess is, it should work.

No, the H23 should use 12mm jam nuts, not 10mm like your H22.

which tool?? the one that allows you to hold the allen wrench or the tool that has a lot of different sizes for the adjusment itself??

make sure you look up what the intake size is and the exhaust side is, they are different from the H22 and the H23......

4bidden is right, nearly all VTEC heads have 10 mm nuts, while non-vtec heads are 12 mm (this applies to B,D, and F series as well).

A box wrench and a screw driver work fine for me. I don't see any advantage to a special tool.

Us guys with the Si's don't need the tool - but on the H22's the job gets a little rougher....

On my H23 the screw adjusters and locknuts are right on top and easy to get to. Where are they on a H22?

Yeah even in the helm they don't say you need the tool for the H23 but you do need it for the H22 I can take a pic of my H23 head tonight if you want to see what it looks like.

You don't really need it for the H22. I've done a valve adjustment on the H22. Just takes a little more time adjusting the valves with a screw driver and an angled wrench. On the H22 - the adjustment screws are located by the walls of the head. Here on the H23 it's located by the spark plugs

Is that a pic of the H23 above? Seems like it, and it also seems that you dont indeed need the special tool, very cool.

Anyone know of the top of their head the valve specs for the H23?

Don't buy the Honda tool, get the Snap-On (Schley) tool from MrPreludeSH (I think thats his name) here on the board. He gives a good discount and is a super nice guy. That is where I bought my tool.

You really need at least a cheap Chilton's manual. It's not hard but there are a lot of steps. There is an online manual but I don't know how good it is.

or you could go to the honda service department and ask to look at the "bibles" (the Honda book that has EVERYTHING and ANYTHING about our cars, each dealer should have a set for each car honda ever made) thats what I did and how I got my specs for what the exhaust and the intake valves should be at.
