Valve adjustment/ timing belt question

I have a 95 Si and it is making a clicking noise from the engine. Someone told me that I need a valve adjustment to clear the problem. I am not a mechanical inclined person so any help would be great.

Also, when is it time to change the timing belt? My prelude has 94,000 miles on it. How much does it usually cost to change the belt? If anyone is from the Tucson,Az area, any recommendations on mechanic shops around the area that's decent?

Thanks..

You can do your valve adjustment by yourself. All you need is a helms manual (www.helminc.com) some basic tools and a set of feeler guages. You don't have to be very mechanically inclined to do this. It's simple and the helm's gives great directions. It is time for a new timing belt with that many miles. Don't reccomend doing that yourself. When you adjust your valves you should also change your valve cover gasket and spark plug grommets since you have it apart anyway. You can get them in a set for like $35. Good luck.

i heard that valve adjustment is not hard to do by yourself w/ a helm, but for timing belt, if you're not mechanical oriental, spend the money and get a peace of mind

when you change timing belt, might as well change the water pump, tensioners and the relevant drive belts

mine cost me around $500 parts and labor

i spent $987 at Honda getting a new timing belt, valve spring adjustment, cam seals, oil seals, valve cover gasket, water pump, oil change, tire alignment and some other small stuff done. I got all this done at 105k miles and havent regretted it at all. If u arent too sure about doing it yourself u might want to take it to Honda if u want a warrenty behind the work and the right parts.

later,
tim

Thanks all for your responses and help.. Any other advice would be great. Anyone else experiencing the same problem with a clicking or ticking noise coming from their engine? When I bought the car with just 32,000 miles on it the dealership told me that this occurs often on Honda's and it needed a valve adjustment. Do you all think this might be the problem or should I consider something else? Thanks to all again...Charles.
