Another problem i have is that i have vacuum hoses just hanging out and i can't figure out where they go to. One of them is the number 12. And the other looks like it's coming off of the throttle but there's no number on it. please help. i think i may be missing a part for the number 12 but i don't know for sure pics help allot.
good idea. i will probably do so as soon as i get home. io just thought at least by saying that one was the number 12 you should be able to point it out. i see it on the diagram but just can't find where it plugs into on the actual car. i'll get the pic up asap
uhg.12 runs from driver side, back of manifold to a check valve. and then to the top port on your vaccume box underneath your IM. then it continues out of the vacuum box to the other side of the vacuum box. look under your hood buddy. you should have a vacuum box under the IM be cause it controls the butterflys in the IM that open at 4800 rpm i belive. but some people take the box off to get that power at lower rpm ( like 3800 ) but you will lose top end and gas mileage. there is a diagram under your hood and thats how i got this info.

it looks like... well, a plastic box. about 3x4 by 2 high with 3 vacuum hoses coming out of it. goto a junk yard if you really want one... but you should get power sooner because the butterflys are open. but... gas milage will suffer a tad. and when i said you would lose top end in my last post i meant low end... sry.

not at all actually it starts and runs like a champ. when i drive it around for a good 20 minutes it starts having a small idling problem. it's never been an automatic lol i know that from putting in my vin number at the honda website. i know it won't pass smog until i get these hoses right lol but i havn't got a clue.
If anybody has a picture of thier h23a1 DOHC non v-tec engine please send pics so far i havn't seen anything like mine. only because of that stupid throttle! Help!!!
it actually takes a long time before it starts acting up at all but sometimes it will idle high around the 2 mark and then start jumping between 1 and 2 in a throbbing kind of way i don't kno if i can quite explain it.
Its a throttle body from an automatic. Seems to have the little arm thing yours has, but its missing the part where the vacuum hose plugs into. Your idle problem is most likely something else. There's tons of threads on idle issues. Have you checked anything else?
you know, i think your absolutely right about the throttle body. except that mine looks exactly like the other aside from that piece on top of it. i wonder if the throttle body from a h22 will work for my h23. or maybe i can just take that piece off (doubt it though) what do you think?
Not sure if you can just remove that part... I've never seen an automatic TB up close. H22 and H23 throttle bodies are interchangeable.
Does that valve on top have another hose that goes elsewhere besides the one that is visible in the picture? Again, that may not be the cause of your idle issues. How long have you been having problems?
there is no other valves coming from that part besides the one in the picture. if the throttle bodies are interchangable then that makes it easy because i found an h22 on ebay. just so long as your 100% sure. i only bought the prelude in feb. when i got it, everything under the hood was in pieces. It needed a timing belt and i guess whoever worked on it before didn't know what they were doing and just took everything apart. (vacuum lines and all). long story short i got it all back together besides a few vacuum lines. but at the moment i'm waiting on some oem gaskets nuts and bolts to come in from honda. just because the aftermarket stuff i had on my valve cover didn't stop the leak. anyway. i'm sure i'll find out what it is once i do a diagostic check.
