used tranny installed, RPM changed???

last x'mas eve, i hit a big piece of metal junk on frwy while driving home, busted my tranny, the shop put in a used tranny, recently i notice that RPM's diffrent

it's a H23 AT tranny, used to be 3500rpm @ 70mph and 4000rpm @ 80mph, now it's like 3500rpm @ 65mph and 4000rpm @ 70mph

what would cause that?

what rpm is it at 60 mph and what gear are you in ? i believe everyone includin myself is at 60mph at 3000 rpm in 5th gear. try that test, and see how it comes out.

It's an auto tranny so he can't really tell what gear really .. unless she counts it shifting but ... they possibly could have put an H22 auto transmission in ? The manuals rev higher ....

Well the only auto vtec tranny is from a jdm lude, another tranny it might be is f22 from an auto accord. I know the gearing on those is different.

Just FYI , vile10 is a girl... as for the transmission, isn't there some sort of label on it that you can check to see what kind it is?

i just went throught the same thing. i have a JDM VTEC and i had to change out my tranny. they gave me sone non VTEC tranny. now my gears are a lot longer, like 40 + or - in first, 70 in 2nd, and 110 in 3rd (haven't had the chance to try 4th, and 5th has me cruising at about 3000 rpm at 80). this is because the gearing's a lot different due to the redlines of the engines. i have a tranny with longer gears due to the fact that the engine it was intended for doesn't have the high redline that the H22 has. i'm willing to bet from my experience that she has an F22 tranny, that is, if H23 revs higher than the F22 man ual or automatic, i think that will be the case.

Do 4th gen automatics have overdrive? Cuz I know that on my mom's car when you turn off overdrive, the RPM's go up by a few hundred RPMs. Maybe the overdrive on your tranny isn't working?
