i bought a 92 si about a month ago and plan on dropping a h22a in it. i know nothing about motors and need some advice as to where i can purchase a reliable engine. i checked hmotors and they seem to have a few choices but im not sure if buying used is a good idea or not. any input would be helpful.

I bought mine off of ebay. It was $2100 shipped with the LSD trans. Included motor, trans, and ecu. The ecu looked beat up, but it works. The trans shifts smooth and the LSD seems to work. It was a BIG risk - I would not recommend doing it. The motor was not cleaned up and it looked like they drug it to AL from japanland on the valve cover....
it's painted with a fresh coat of wrinkle black and looks good installed.
after I ordered I read all the horror stories about motors. So far, the motor runs great. Started up the first time with original plugs and wires. I changed the Tbelt and water pump. The only way I could be happier is if it came with the supercharger
JDM Source through and through, I know the owner he's awesome! Great prices, and his H engines are always mint. I've bought mine from him in the past and referred other people to him for engines. 2 Huge Canadian thumbs up! www.jdmsouce.ca
I just got an H22 with less than 40k miles for $1100, sans ecu, from japan star motor (no "s" on the end, the one with an S on the end is a fraudulent copy site) and it's perfect, you can get the engine, 5-speed transmission and manual ecu setup for 1500 bucks shipped to your front door, or the shop of your choice.
They've also got the blue-top H23 DOHC VTEC for 200 bucks more either way...
ok, so it sounds like for the euro r just needs a new ecu from a civic and a few small mods and it should be fine. i have plenty of time to figure the rest of it out so no big rush. right now my car turns over a couple times before starting up and it seems to get longer and longer as the days go by so i think thats my first priority.
