You really want to buy a new harness for $600 plus from Honda??!! It will plug in just fine but why not just modify you current harness. If you have an Si you only need to add three wires. An S needs a few more but still, $600.

As for the prewired thing, I don't think we have figured out which ones were prewired or not. My '95 Si was prewired but I have read about people with '92's having the wires there as well.

the two 92s that i have done swaps on DID NOT have any vtec wires run into the car, but the 94 and 95s that i did HAD them.....the way i think about it......anything after 93 (which was the first year for vtec) will be pre-wired for it. and if you use the h23 harness, you just need to add the 3 extra wires (which is pie)

One might be lead to assume the above is correct, it seems logical enough at least. It isn't correct however, there seems to be no sure-fire rhyme or reason as to which cars have VTEC wires from the factory.

Although simply buying a VTEC harness may initally APPEAR to be an easier route, it would probably be substantially MORE work and expense. Keep in mind that you would not only need to source a VTEC engine harness, but the ECU harness as well (having VTEC wires in your engine harness wont do any good unless the harness that goes through the firewall has the correct wires as well). The ECU harness connects to about 60 bajillion other things, mostly under the dash. Your car would probably end up looking like the pics 4bidden posted in his climate control thread if you try and replace that sucker.

When you take that fact into account, and add the time requried to source the two harnesses, you are probably approaching 15 times the labor required to simply modify the H23 harness (which, by the way, would also be nearly free).
