USDM h22a???

my 92 prelude is starting to die, even if it is a honda engine (its currently running 240k miles) im sure it has at least a few more years left. i have the h23 si prelude, automatic and am thinking of swapping in a h22 on it with a new lsd tranny. the problem is, living in california it is impossible to pass smog with any jdm engine (i happened to "pass" the previous two smogs by paying $180 ) so im looking for a usdm h22 but i CANNOT FIND ONE.

anybody know any links or connections that i can go to? and i heard from this one guy of a h22b swap, an h series engine with a b series tranny i dont know if it is real. lol

1. I think hmotors stocks usdm h22a1's but you might check.

2. It will be hard to find a lsd auto tranny, unless you want to swap trannies and well, you're better off buying another car.

3. If you passed before, why not pass again????

4. Yes there is such a thing as a b series transmission to fit the h22 but it's for civics to install a h22, not for preludes to install b series trannies.

he's saying he paid off a smog ref to pass his car when it really shouldn't have. ^

and yes i paid somebody to pass me for smog. its not like im the only one that does it. lol.

Well that's what I'm saying, get a jdm engine and pay off the guy again. you did it twice, why not continue it?

that is true bro. but there really is that small chance of him getting caught and then me not being able to drive my car. lol. or should i just take that risk of looking for more people to pass me. either way. im swapping it and i am very excited.

I live in California and I have a jdm h22a. I've passed smog 3 times with out paying a dime over the test and cert charge. So it's not impossible.

oh for real?? do you have any modifications to it?? how did you make it work? because from what i know jdm engines have something in them that just fails smogs.

most USDM H22's have high miles, upwards to 100K. JDM engines average between 40-60k and you can get them for relatively cheap. Now I don't know too much about the whole smog check in CA, but I know many luders from Cali that rock JDM H22's.

^wow great advice, why not just move to Japan and then buy USDM parts??? That would be way cool.

lol. im really tryin to consider whether to keep the car and rebuild it, it is my first car after all or buy a new second hand car preferably a year 2000 or latest civic si. if anybody in the long beach los angeles area is selling their car, i might consider it. lol
