Upper ball joint replacement

Apparently to replace these you generally have to buy the whole upper control arm? Do these rarely wear out, or is it that difficult to remove them from the arm? I plan to do the 5 lug conversion, and I thought I might replace these while the arms are off - the car has 130k miles on it.

if the boot around the ball joint is good then you should be fine. If it is leaking and dried out then replace it. go to the junkyard and see if You can find a set. thats what i did. 40$ for a pair. You do need the whole arm tho. Go to your local autozone and get a pitman arm puller and use it to remove the ball joint. works like a charm!!
