update on my loud exhaust!!

Alright I'm excited, I did what you guys suggested and went and got a resonator put on, and it worked, the exhaust sounds awesome now, and with the silencer on I can't even hear it, and when I want a low deep rumble now and then I take it out, it sounds great both ways, so thanks for all your help guys.

Sweet!

How much was the resonator? Did they cut your exhaust and weld it in?

Yeah, I went to a exhaust shop that my work does business with and asked him what he thought, and he said that I should go with a 2.25 resonator, and that would cut the noise down by 30 percent or so, but man it cut it out completely with the silencer on, it's perfect now. He just cut a section out , and spliced it in. I should of went to them in the first place because this guy welds so much better than the guy I went too first. but oh well. I think it sounds awesome now. I drove home without the silencer and it's really deep, especially on deceleration.

sounds good

well thats sweet man...i got really sick of my loud exhaust so i put the silencer in. it makes is realllly quiet, which i love, but i have the feeling that it just kills my performance. i dont have a resonator either, so i think that i will get one. i have been shopping for a mugen muffler, or a replica, but havent really found anything i would be happy with...

yeah they just cut it in, wich is fine, I really wish I would of gone with the 2.25 piping though, my low end just got killed, but I know it's gonna be better with nitrous and what-not, and as far as the silencer is concerned, I look at it this way, my stock exhaust was alot more restrictive than my performance exhaust with a silencer, so I'm still making out, then when I want a little rumble and especially when I'm at the track, it comes off! I still might get 2.25, I don't know though anybody have any experiences with both? what are your thoughts?

I think after a while you'll get used to it and take the silencer off. I used to run the silencer, but I knew it killed performance and I just got used to the rumble

Hey joel, what diameter piping are you using, don't you have a factory greddy system thats' 2.25 right? Did you notice any loss in the low end? My car seems a little sluggish with 2.5.

I'm confused on the buildup here... is it 2.5" from cat back ?

Then a 2.25" resonator in the 2.5" pipeing to a 2.5" tanabe exhaust ?

Your recommending I Take it to do ... say if i wnated straight pipe , 2.25", resonator and 2.25" exhaust?

odd, im getting a little confused here.
I have the full 2.25 but, i get no rumble, all i get is a nice buzzing sound from my stock muffler. I cant wait to get my muffler.

So whats up with your paint slp?

yes it's 2.5 from my gutted cat, into a 2.25 resonator, then from the resonator, it goes 2.5 pipe until it hits my 2.5 tanabe.

the reason for the 2.25 resonator is he said it would benefit for two reasons, it will give some of the low end power back that I lost with the 2.5, and it will cut the sound by 30 percent or more, a 2.5 resonator would not have affected the sound.

so my recomendation for a n/a lude would definately be no bigger than 2.25. because the loss in low end power is dramatic in my opinion, due to no back pressure. this is just my opinion wich is learned from my experiences and from a exhaust tech that knows his stuff, so I trust it.

hmm, so with that 2.25 resonator, basically your exaust does not flow any better than a 2.25 exaust? I guess the muffler would flow better, but any other benefit?

Yea, i wana see that paint finished.

yes it does flow better scott, the resonator is only maybe 15 inches long, there is 2.5 before that and 2.5 after that until the 2.5 tanabe.
