update on car problems

referring to this thread -->how safe to drive my car?

i went to the mechanic, and he replaced a bad pvc (pcv?) valve. it seemed to solve some of hesitation/surge problems that i had, but it didn't make it go away quite all the way. i thought about pulling the cel code but i really don't think i should....knowing myself i know i'll mess something up.

car in 1st gear is underpowered now. all the other gears seem to be fine tho....

mild hesitation/surging from the 2-4k range at partial throttle, most noticeably in gears 2-4, but happens in all gears still. ever since the new pvc (pcv?) valve, it's not as frequent but i still feel it.

i know that there could be a host of problems...but b4 going to the mechanic again i want to know what other possibilites there might be...so at least i could give the mechanic a couple ideas here and there.

thanks in advance,

change you rotor and your cap, that makes a huge difference, also new plugs and wires

Water pump would have no effect on power.

I'd guess ignition, timing, BAD PLUGS, o2 sensor etc etc.
