Unable to sustain operating temperature

It is very hard to keep my car at operating temperature. Even when driving at any speed or at 4000rpms on the highway. The temp gauge will not stay at 1/2. Which of course causes the car to act differently (vtec).

Currently i have a 40/60 mix of coolant cause of the radiator crack that spewed coolant so i had to add straight water when i was at work.

What are some suggestions to get it to stay at operating temperature?

Doesn't sound like the thermostat is working properly.

hmmm...

- Are you idling at 750 +/- 50 rpm under what seems to be normal operating temperature? or like 1100 rpm +/- 200 rpm?

- Does the Fans ever come on when you're driving / idling?

- Is the bottom radiator hose hot after the engine been on for at least 20 minutes?

uhh idle is normal. I have never noticed the fans coming on and i will have to get back with you on the last one. But the car never goes above 1/2 at max even when driving hard.
