Uh oh... I think my engine is messed up (sound clip)

I have been thinking something is wrong with my engine for about a week or two now. It just doesnt sound the same, I popped the hood after i got my oil change to take a look and to listen. The sound is coming from the right side of the engine... and I am pretty sure it isnt the belts. Sounds like either cylinder 3 of 4. When it idles it just doesnt sound nice, kinda sounds clunky and when I rev it you hear all sorts of sad noises. Also there is some sort of electric "whur" coming from the intake or TB...
Is there anything I can do before taking it somewhere?

Sound Clip

Plugs look like this (black soot at base with a white electrode)

I get that electric whur from my intake too and my engine idles real smooth. That is just the sound of air passing through the tube, nothing to worry about. As far as the other sounds have you had your valves adjusted recently?

i think my valves were adjusted about 1.5 years ago... but i am not positive if i remember that correctly. I was thinking it could be the valves, but it is really noisy.

the loud clicking sound does not seem to change frequency as the engine revs.....at least not proportionally so. This makes me believe that it is coming from something that spins at a constant RPM no matter what the speed of the engine. At the end of the clip, though, the frequency of the clicking did change. Find out for sure if that clicking noise is a consitant frequency or if it varies with RPM.

What type of engine is it? Also, what type of transmission do you have? When you say the right side of the engine, is this when you are looking at it while standing in front of the car? Also, it is really important to be sure about this clicking. When you rev the engine, does it always remain constant? Are there ways that you can make the frequency change? This information will be extremely helpful in trying to diagnose the problem.

when the engine idles, what sounds like valves clicking is very consistant. Then on the throttle I believe that it picks up in volumn quite a bit... but I will check to be positive tomorrow.

It is an H23, 5spd. Right side is when I am looking at the front of the car.

is there any oil in that thing? i'd check, just to make sure. that thing sounds like pacman's(honda-tech) ITB s2k.

thats all in the valves. weather or not there is oil in it could be a problem.

what i was getting at was that you indeed checked the oil. and didn't just assume there was some in there. you would be surprised how many people leave valvoline or places like it without oil.

Yeah, that actually sounds like a bad rod bearing to me......either that or like you have 10,000 pound valvesprings beating your valves into oblivion..........
