i'm looking on selling my AEM CAI and getting a type S intake from the 97-01 preludes, where can i find a good deal on the intake? and what is the install like? thanks
On the 5thgen (what I have) it just bolts right in not sure about a 4thgen (assuming that you have one since you posted this in the 4thgen forum).

I do not need to explain anything to you.
My broken wings still strong enough to cross the ocean with.
My broken wings how far should I go drifting in the wind.
im also interested in replacing my aem intake with the type s. i just never got around to asking. so does anyone know how easy/hard it is to install in a 4th gen and how it compares to a aem cai?
The Type S is easy to install on a 4th gen, the only modification necessary is moving the external coil, just unbolt the bracket, and remount it on the opposite side of where it attaches... also, I promised you pics evan, so here is one...
How big of a difference is the type s compared to the cai when it comes to power/dyno?
Type S gives ~5 lb/ft torque before VTEC but not much in terms of gains after VTEC. Its the only intake to get if you want more low-end. Also has a nice stealth look to it.
I might be selling my Type-S with KN filter (about 6k miles on the whole thing) and setting up a short ram with cold air box.
where does it suck in air from? and whats the diameter difference between the stock intake and this type s intake and the aem cai? and what about people who dont have vtec, im guessing it will give 5 lb of torque before 5k, unlike the cai that gives me...?

it's what supplies your distributor with the necessary power to create a spark.
disengage, are you estimating that tq. or did you get that from a dyno test somewhere?
midnite, it's like installing your stock intake, it's not a CAI, and it'll rest right over the hole in your fender wall/engine bay leading down to behind your bumper/in front of your pass. tire. Since you have a CAI already installed, no point in reinstalling the resonator, and this'll at least make your car a little quieter at most ranges and definitely at WOT than it is with a CAI installed.
remember where your airbox and oem filter sit? The resonator is below that, it's basically directly in front of your fr. pass. tire, hidden in between your wheel well liner and the bumper. You have to pull the liner away to gain access to, if I remember, 3 or 4 bolts which hold the resonator in. There's definitely quality information here on removing it. It's basically a muffler for incoming air. Funny looking contraption though, the first thing that came to mind when I was finally able to get that last PITA bolt out and pulled the the unit out was that it looked like a mechanical intestine. Anyway, people here have just removed that and left their stock intake in, reporting "butt dyno" improvements, and it makes sense, it's basically meant to restrict the flow of air in order to silence things a bit.
all my rambling, this will help:
the resonator assembly is #9, #12 runs into it as well assembly 17, which is where the air is sucked in through, #12 connects to #29 which has, at the top of it, a rubber gasket which wraps around the edge of the hole in your engine bay directly beneath part #11, the bottom half of your OEM air box. Cool?
