TURBO H23 vs. TURBO H22

OK, guys this topic is so hard to figure out for me. What engine would be better for higher revs and more power??? Basically, whats a better engine to turbocharge???

OK, to add, my whole bottom end is going to be rebuilt and the head will be ported and polished. Also, the cams will be changed for sure. This will be done on either engine, so which one will be better? Is VTEC going to hurt me or benefit me? Can I rev up as high if I rebuild an H23?

Try doing a search. A couple months ago, there was a very good discussion on this subject.

i posed this question before on a different board, when i was looking to buy a prelude. i planned on the end result of a turbo application. i asked whether i should get a vtec or a si. pretty much here was the thing.

si:
lower compression
closed deck
easier to tune in turbo
.1 more displacement

vtec:
higher compression
open deck (cant remember if this was the h22a1 or the a4 or both)
harder to tune with vtec crossover point due to a/f ratio change
.1 less displacement

hope that helps. the h22 engine is deffinately a better one for N/A applications though.

see, thats the whole point. compression doesn't bother me. I'm gonna put in new pistons, rods, etc. The open deck doesn't bother me because, I'm going to resleeve with Golden Eagles, and the h22a1 is colosed deck anyway. The only thing that I need to know is the actuall VTEC. Will it hurt me if I tune it properly with boost?

with turbo-grind cams, you will kick some serious ass with VTEC as compared the the H23

actually, I take that back.

if you build each motor the same, and both have turbo cams, then I don't think there will be a big difference between the two.

Its been a while since i have been on this board...wow, anyways, I hve a fully built turbo H23A, and my friend has aslo a fully built turbo H22A, alll work done by TunerM, my car is currently at TunerM being finished up, tranny swap, tuning, the works, so I'll post dyno charts when I get it back from both of our cars and you can decide, H23 or H22.......
