Trunk Popper, look

Check it out, I added a trunk release solenoid ($15.) I ditched the huge button in the kit and added this small one. I also wired it up to pop off my alarm as well. If you've ever used this it's a real handy feature to have.

i just got the same one off of ebay! i installed a little differently though. i thought it looked like crap sticking out from the trunk so i mounted it behind the rear interior panel. I had to make a special rig so that it would work with the cable lever up front and with the solenoid pulling the cable ( in case you lose power). basically I just cut the stock cable, peeled away some housing, and then connected the 2 ends with the cable from the solenoid using that cable bolt. I also made a little U-bracket so that there was pressure on the cable housing, and then bolted it to the seatbelt bolt. wish I'd taken a picture because it's kind of hard to explain... it looks stock though and both the lever and alarm option work to pop the trunk.

I have one of those too, I need to get around to installing it. What is that button for, to pop the trunk? What's wrong with your factory trunk release?

I'm gonna set it up so you can't pop the trunk unless the key is in the ignition. Then I'll lock the mechanical release, that is so someone can't smash the window, reach in, and pop the trunk. I have some expensive car audio gear in the trunk. I figure if the key isn't in the ignition than I can always use the alarm remote to pop it.
