Transmission smoked?

So I'm driving my 96 prelude with an auto h23, and all of a sudden my tranny quits shifting and I had to pull off the side of the road and it threw a cel, I turned it off opened the hood, it still has plenty of tranny fluid, which is pretty black but not leaking or anything, i started my car back up and it would engage and ran for 4-5 miles before doing the same thing, the cel light stayed on the whole time, I then had it towed home out of fear of tearing it up, is my tranny toast and this is just what it's doing? I also tried all the different gears? All of them do the same deal nether kept it from doing it again any input would be much appreciated, sorry about the ****ty grammar and stuff doing this from my iPhone thanks a lot

Auto trans fluid being black=very bad, it starts red and when it's ready to be changed it gets a reddish brown, any darker than that and it's hurting it. More than likely killed it by not changing it and the fluid became so contaminated from material from the clutch packs that it ruined the shift solenoid, probably wont know for sure until you pull the code but that's more than likely it.

Well I just changed the fluid this past summer so I mean it's not completely black, it's more of a brown/red, but irregardless I pulled the code, it only flashed one time then the cel light went off w/e that means
