Transmission issues - shifting

when i'm shifting in the first gears something makes a chattering noise or like metals were in touch...

its also having problems shifting, most in 1st, 2nd and reverse, and sometimes i put the gear and i feel that it is in, but when i take the clutch out it wasnt all in...

i havent changed the trans fluid (i have 1 year and 7 months with the car, and probably the previous owner never changed it), but thinking about to change it, and see if it can solve the problems..?
that could be the cause of my problems?

That sounds like a synchro issue. You can try changing the fluid with Genuine Honda MTF or try Pennzoil GM Synchromesh Fluid. It might help with your shifting issue.

your shifter bushings may be worn out as well. That could be why you're not getting it into gear fully.

for the trans fluid.. the helms says 10w-30 or 10w-40, sf or sg grade..

the sf or sg grade is the only part i dont understand... it could be motor oil?

if motor oil can be used, which will be best? 30, 40? synthetic?
if motor oil cant be used, which will be best?
I live in Puerto Rico, temperatures may vary from 70 to 100 deg. fahrenheit

it takes 2 quarts to fill it up?

Ehh, It could mean that ur pressure plate is going out. But dont worry about that just yet. Change the fluid first. 10w-30 and 10w-40 is just motor oil. Yes you can use that, but shifting quality won't be as good as using Honda MTF of Penzoil GM Synchromesh as I have experienced. If you go the oil route, use 10w40. And yes, you only need 2 quarts.

thanks... I also talked to my sys bf that is a mechanic or tech... and recomend me to use 20w-50 if it have oil (liquid, not grease) or 10w-40 if it have ATF because of the worn out particles that it may have...

and about the syncthetic, he told me that if I go to sync, I will need to remain using sync for the rest of the cars life or mine, because it will expand metals or something like that, and if I come back to normal oil it will start to have problems.

I bet that there are a post about sync or oil but I havent search it... if someone want to agree whit wut he told me or want to make some corrections or put the link to that topic, will be helpful.

I will use 20w-50... waiting to the carr get something cool to start.

I let you know how it went tomorrow, after a 2hrs trip to my apt

about the pressure plate, I really dont know anything, but I think that something is wrong with the clutch... when the gears wont come in, I go back to neutral, release the clutch and press it again and then to the same gear and most of the time it goes in after doing that (thats w/out changing to other gears).

Wherever. Start around San Juan/Carolina. Im trying to work there and live for a while so jobs are probably there...
I could work min jobs around here and pay 400-600 or work a few min jobs down there and pay 200-400 to split an apt and be on an island again.
Half my city is Puerto Rican. Im not by blood but I feel Im part LOL
Ive been exposed to Spanish and Puerto RIcan culture for my whole life. Im in Holyoke MA ANyway It would be good to establish contacts down there. ANd I remembered a luder was from PR. So anyway my names Brady

I looked up if you could bring a car over on a ferry from FL but I guess you can't.

I know ppl have bring cars from US to PR, but dont know how much it cost or where it is does, but you can.

knowing spanish will be good... here most of the ppl should know english or at least a bit... but most dont know anything just a few words... and some that know but dont like to talk it (like me)

about the prices, here the works probably wont pay as in US, but the live cost is probably more cheap than US...

you have family here?
...you will come to visit and work or just to work?

Your sister’s bf doesn't know jack. You can go back and forth between synthetic and normal transmission oil without problems.
Don’t use motor oil though, since it lacks the additives needed for the high pressures that the gears are exposed to.

Im trying to come and work but also travel meet people,(girls mostly) whatever, chill on the beach etc. Avoid the end of winter...
I know enoguh Spanish (P.R spanish) to get by if I had to. I think I would be able to pick it up after a little while. No I'm not actually Puetro Rican, though. but very familiar with the culture a a lot of my friends are Puerto rican

Do you think it would be difficult to get around or get a job with minimal spanish. I was talking to a couple people and they said maybe easier to work around tourist areas...

If you can have a conversation in spanish or at least in spanglish (half spanish and half english or something like that) you could work around turist areas... mostly by hotels or San Juan

meet girls PR girls in the beach during winter... I dont think you will find a lot
