Transmission Decissions

Hey guys,

well i'm about to buy a tranny, be it a vtec or non, i found a very cheap F22A tranny, however it not being my first choice, i'd like to upgrade what i break.. however, the price on it is so low, its making me doubt it.. even keep it as a spare even!.. but i spoke to hondamotorsonline and they quoted me 600 for a vtec tranny with no lsd... how good of a price is this? would i be able to find something cheaper? this is no longer my daily driver, so im not in that big of a rush..

what are your opinions on it? theres about a 400$ difference in price in the f22/h22...

thanks

mike

What are your future decisions? Like.... do you want a H22 swap or boost or what?

If you plan on keeping your f22 motor than a h22 tranny isnt going to be to much of an upgrade because its geared towards top end (vtec). If you plan on swapping an h22 in the future get the h22 tranny, if you plan on keeping your f22 go with the h23 tranny because it is closer geared than the f22 tranny and is geared towards more low end.

you are wrong, the casings are the same, all prelude trannies are interchangeable, including clutch assemblies etc. ... but yea i'm planning on switching to an h22 in the future...

so based on me upgrading to h22 in the future what would you all do.

apologize btw, i read it again and it came off kinda jerkish, sorry.. didnt mean for it to read off that way, anyway..

what would you guys consider a good price for an H22?.. i've gotten a few 600$ quotes, but i think thats a bit high, i was thinkin more like 500 and under.. is this reasonable, or am i shooting for too good of a deal?

Hey, when my S trans was going out i bought a Si transmission. 500$. I wish i knew then what i know now caus i coulda gotten a Vtec transmission for the same price. Get the vtec transmission. Use the old trans as somthing to learn on. Rebuild it. The if you go turbo you can switch to the long gears. Im still thinking about swapping the 5th gear from the S transmission into my Si trans. That way i have the best of both worlds. I would have MAD high speed and good low end speed.
