Tranny go BOOM-- help/advice needed

Ok, so car was making this bizarre sqeeking/rattling sound when under acceleration

Took it to a local Tranny/clutch shop which put it up on their lift and acutally "drove"
the car while it was up on the lift... One tech stood right underneath the transmission
and they even let me stand close by, but not under the car. Anyway it sounds like there
are marbles and crushed glass IN the tranmission housing.. they drained the tranny
fluid and stuck one of those magnetic probes into it but got nothing out of it as far as
pieces of metal etc... Believe me something inside there is going to blow up soon.

SO the problem is this, I can;t afford the JDM engine and tranny right now, BUT to rebuild
this tranny will probably cost me at least a grand, if not more. Sucks, but what options
do I have? I cannot be without the car for more then a week realistically...

Does anyone know where I might be able to get JUST a JDM tranny with an LSD.. FAST
And how much would the tranny cost? THe shope is quoting me 9 hours labor to drop the
tranny open it up put whatever parts that are needed into it and reinstall it.. It about
500 bucks in labor PLUS whatever parts I am going to need.. and who knows what that's
going to entail once they crack the tranny open. I already had the grinding 3rd and 5th
gear synchros..... what can I do???
