Tough steering due to fluid?

During the cold weather it seems that my steering wheel is a little tougher to turn. I'm sure it is the power steering fluid just being cold but what can I do for a better power steering fluid? Would it be just as easy to change the fluid? I know radiator fluid protects from freezing in different stages. Is PS fluid the same way? Any reccomendations for which fluid to use?

After I drive the car for a little bit it goes away and I get the same feel from the wheel. I don't want to take any risks on burning up something if it can be prevented. This is the first winter that I have had my car and only noticed it within the past week when it has been really cold. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Never heard of anything to combat the cold man. I think it's just the laws of physics working on hydraulics. Things start to congeal. But ya, cars don't like harsh winters

It also could be snow and slush lodged in your wheel well. Since my car is lowered i get a lot of snow frozen in my wheel well which in turn makes it harder to steer.

if you ever change your PS fluid, DO NOT use any fluid other genuine Honda PS fluid. This is one of the fluids in the car that should always be genuine honda brand fluid. It is specially formulated to work with the seals in the PS rack. I have seen many instances where people will add another brand X type of PS fluid, and it caused a failure of the PS system. So just remember, Genuine Fluid only in Honda PS systems.

Thanks for the great note.

I am really ready for summer. Or at least a nice week where I wouldn't have so many parts for my car just sitting on the floor waiting to be installed.
