Torn boot nipple - what do I do?

Hi folks,

On the passenger side the following nipple has a slight tear to where it attaches to the boot. Anyone know of an easy way to fix this?

Also, the actualy hose that fits into the nipple comes off SUPER easily...what exactly does that hose do? Also, should I make sure that clamps on better?

Take a look at the picture and if you have an idea on how I can repair this, please let me know...(it's the one with the RED arrow)

What else? Replace the boot.

Perhaps I should been more specific. Is there a good DIY on replacing the boot? Also what is the point of the nipple and what is the tube to that attaches to it?

Hi folks...I've figured it out that its basically just a rack boot which needs to be replaced. I'll be doing it this weekend...although I can get a kit from Autozone for $20, is it worth paying the extra to buy it from the dealer or am I ok with sticking with Autozone/Orielly's?

I never buy anything from them, especially when myself and a couple of others bought axles around the same time from them and they all failed. Gaskets and seals are the worst, always leak.

Isn't that just for an air hose between the two rack boots? Might not even have to worry about it.

Yes it is the air hose. So should I even worry about relaxing the boot? Since the tear is right at the base of the nipple and is about 2mm only.
