went to get my oil changed and before we leave the guy mentions that his "mechanic" may have put a little too much oil...
so we drive down the street and smoke starts going everywhere? I was like wtf?!?! so we turn around and go back and they say they may have just spilled some somewhere. so they try and clean it up but it's still smoking. it is the burning oil smell...
so i get home and let the car sit for a couple hours and check the level. the level turns out to be right in between the two dots. should i be worried or is it possible that THAT much oil was spilled to make it smoke that much.

I have that problem, don't know if its the same on 4G's. Teh flex pipe on the exhaust sits below the filter. When they drain the oil it dumps onto teh flex pipe and burns for awhile. I got mine changed and it was smoking when I got home.

RIP Elliot, you will be missed
Originally posted by influx they probably just spilled some on the valve cover, itll smoke, they are idiots for not using a funnel tho man
I really hope oil would not burn on the valve cover. Like the other people said when they changed the oil filter some oil gets on the downpipe and then burns off once the car warms up.

you've never spilled it on the valve cover?
it doesnt smoke like, crazy, i didnt know thats what he was talking about, there is a 'little' smoke tho
I wouldn't go back there man if they can't be clean about it. I don't like people to think even for a minute that there is something wrong with my car. So I do my oil changes myself.
Never used the foil method tho. Gonna have to try that!
