Tire sizes??

Ok so here my question and i hope i dont sound to lame:

I have a 96 Prelude S which cam stock with 14" wheels with 185/70 tires on it. I bought some 16" wheels from a dude they had 205/55 tires on it, wat tire size would i put onto the 16" to make it closer to the stock as possible, I.E. not messing with the speedo?

thnx for any info

Tire size calculator

A 185/70R14 tire is almost identical (.5%) to a 205/50R16

Are you joking? SevenBizzos answered your question already. The diameter of the tire IS the diameter of the wheel + tire.

Did you use the tire size calculator link that was provided for you?

I think what he is asking is what combination of wheels with tires will give him the same total diameter as the stock wheel tire combination. Seems the confusion comes from the sidewall height... that is his new larger wheel will require him to now have a shorter sidewall. I didn't bother with the calculator but if you are going with a 16" wheel even on the S base model I would def check with width of the new wheel. If it is 6" or greater you should definitely go with wider than a 185 tire.

EDIT: The width of the tire will not effect your speedo.
