TINY bit of oil on my timing belt>! help!

When i look at my timing belt, on the left side, about 1 mm of the left side of the belt has residue of oil on it.

Also, sometimes when i turn off the car and stick my head under the hood, i can hear noises coming from near the cam gears, kinda like air coming out, air bubbly noises.

Valve cover gasket needs changing?

id advise it. mine was leaking when i opened it up do to my t/b belts a few weeks ago, and it was the factory gasket. bought a replacement at www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and im good. where are you looking at your timing belt thru? or do you have yer valve cover cut to expose the cam gears?

ah... shouldn't the EGR valve be letting these gases out instead of the valve cover gasket? correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that's what the EGR was for. And Bboy'lude... go to a honda dealer and ask if all the recalls are current for your ride. I have a 94 Lude Si and the crank oil seal needed to be replaced with a beefed up plate around it so it doesn't leak oil. That may be where your oil on your timing belt is coming from.

It is most likely the balance shaft oil seal is leaking or has blown out. There is a recall and the solution is to install a retainer. The P/N is 06923-P0A-306. You will get a free timing belt replacement out of the deal too, as the oil that leaked on it will cause it to break prematurely. Just go to your Honda dealer and tell them that you see oil on your belt, and mention the Balance Shaft oil seal retainer recall.

the oil seal doesnt break, it comes out of place. Most times the seal is never replaced, we just put a retainer over the existing seal. This recall affects Accords, Preludes, and Odysseys with F and H series motors. You shouldn't have a problem getting it replaced under warranty on your JDM motor unless it has already been performed on your USDM H23. If you give me your VIN I can tell you if it has been done.
