im looking to purchase a new engine, either an h22 or h23. anything i can get a good deal on. My current engine is sitting at 250xxx and is starting to give me problems so i think its about time for a new one
my goal is to keep this car running strong while im in college. ill probably be getting an h23 but if i can find an h22 for a good price ill definaely get that.
I just need to know if anyone has had problem with Tiger Japanese Auto Parts or if they are a legit business and its safe for me to buy from them.
id like to, but im a broke college student and the cost matters.
my current h23 burns oil like crazy. i got an oil change 2 months ago and its almost bone dry. i didnt mean for it to get that way i just checked it this morning and what a delightful suprise!
but it is true, "you get what you pay for," when it comes to your car. Maybe ill just keep topping off the oil everyday and take it real easy and just save up for the hmotors h22...
Dont go with Tiger... i've been hearing many bad reviews about their motors... there are a few threads about them here i believe...
As for HMOtors... go with them.. I had my motor for a while and lovin' it... Talk to Steve he's really cool to deal with, and let me take pix around the shop and stuff... haha he's a cool cat... btw i like his big fish tank in their waiting room

I also recommend HMotors. Bought my H22 in December and it has been excellent. As of now I have put just over 2,000mi on it since the swap and have had no problems. As stated before, Steve is a great guy with great customer service.
Hmotors is a bit pricey, and I was in the process of ordering a new h22 from them and everything was legit, going smoothly, and an emergency came up, causing me to cancel my order, and they were prompt and cool about it.. Plus, the person that referred me to Tiger did an h22 swap a year or so ago, and that's all they did, no rebuilding, and the motor cam in quickly, and runs great to this day. I mean Hmotors get lots of biz, and b/c of that, they charge whatever they want for the same thing you can get from tiger for hundreds less..
Both companies seem to be good sellers, but if your budget is the main concern, tiger all the way.
HMotors backs up their stuff though. Something gets broken from Shipping, they'll replace it..
From everything I've heard at least.. And from what I heard, good luck getting another company to do that.
HMotors takes care of you. They are allowed to charge what they want and deserve to stay in business.

Plus, if you are in SoCal you can make an appointment and go and pick the engine out yourself at the HMotors facility. I was able to find one with a nice Tanabe header already attached.
i got mine at hmotors. if you are near montreal i might suggest tiger. you can get a 'cash' price that is pretty hard to beat, but you can also take it back to return it when it doesn't crank. even tho i was only an hour from montreal i opted for hmotors after i heard all the locals stories from tiger... again, if you are close enough to get the back door cash price and then return it if needed, go for it.. hmotors was really good

I vouch for Hmotors as well. Its been about year now when bought my H23A3 motor there, and was able to pick it up at their warehouse. When they gave me the motor, it was washed and they even hand you the TPS sensor. I've put about 10k+ and still runs strong.
