threw a Cel Code 3

Ok i threw a CEL Code 3 which is Map sensor. I have a JDM h22a swap with h23 external coil. I got this code when i was driving and i took it to 6500rpm and the car shuts off... the plug on my external coil poped off... so i pluged it back in and the car started up again... but CEL is on... drove it and it backfired small lil flames out from my exhaust (thats what my friend said as he was driving behind me) drive a lil sluggish... CEL is off but i jumped it and it still threw a CEL 3... any body know what to do??? Any one got any advices?

These are the things to check for. If these don't work, then you might need a new map sensor.

Open or short in MAP sensor circuit
MAP sensor
ECM

I have one from a 00 Prelude, but I don't know if it'll work on a JDM motor. I don't see why not though

external MAP sensor or one mounted to the throttle body? The map sensor is a primary item in determining how much fuel needs to be put into the engine. Yours is not working (just wait). Thus the computer is using "safe" fuel maps hense why you are running so rich, etc.

Lets start easy:
You obviously checked the plug right? - On tight, no corrosion?

Do you have a mulitmeter? I'll type more if you do. If not ebay has "JDM" MAPs up all the time.
