those of u with jdm h22's...

did your h22a come with a cold start? apparently mine didn't and when starting it in the morning.. or after 6 hrs or so.. the idle woudl bob up and down between 750-2k, when low it feels as if the car is about to stall then bounce back up..

is this bad for the car?

whats a cold start? MANY people have had issues with fluctuating idle on the JDM engine.

Hello, is this only a symptom of JDM motors...my friend has a 94 h23 and the idle hops up/dwn like somebody is pressing the gas peddle...its rhythmic...like the system is purposely doing this. What causes this? I believe its only whn the motors cold..but Im not sure.

oohhhh kay then.. so i'm not alone.. i've read around and have seen people with *simular* problems, but they seemed like most people had problems starting up, which i didn't, nor did my engine ever actually stall, it may have gotten close to it, but never actually stalled.

Since this seems to be *normal*.. kinna.. would it harm the engine? and as stated above, has anyone found a way to find it?

I know this deal

Allright I have had my swap for a while now and when I first got it in it did the bouncing idle deal. Somehow the dealer fixed it, so I am not too positive as to how they did it.

Now to the current state: I just pulled the cylinder head to check valves and do t-belt and what not, well its back(bouncing idle). So I am starting to think its some sort of adjustment on the throttle body. I only get it in the morning on the way to work. When I go home at night its fine. I will be trouble shooting sunday morning to see if I can find anything out.

will do.

I am just getting all tuned in from putting in crower stage 2 cams so the faster I straighten all the little things out the faster I will get on the Dyno.

every engine does this
the engine has to get to operating temperature to function properly. Else, there's a lot of other problems.

wouldnt it make sense the engine ran at higher rpm consistent without fluctuating until warmup?

but wouldn't that mean the engine would idle high even after it's warm.. say... 1500?

before the swap my h23 idled at 1500 at startup and went down after engine temp was nominal...

This is correct on our h22 as well, atleast according to the Helms.

Thats exactly how mine runs when its already run once in the day. I just went to lunch and it idled normally Unitl it was at operating temp it was at about 1400. After driving a bit it was at 750.

exactly my point, every car does that.. but mine o.O since the swap.. during cold start the rpm just bounces up and down until the engines warm..
