Thinking of selling my baby

Within the last 6mo my timing belt went, so then the valves broke, im replacing the clutch that completely died within a week, and now the balljoints are gone.

im a college student and dont make **** for money and cant afford this [thank god for credit cards]. so im really pissed that all this has beeing going on and want to look for a car that will LAST without having to replace random broken parts.

dont get my wrong i LOVE my prelude but dont have the size pockets right now to deal with all this.

im not asking for advice, but will take it. this is more of a place to vent my anger.

I understand how you feel, but really any other car is going to give you random problems that will have to be fixed, Unless you get a new car, but what would that solve, then you would just have a car note...

after it broke though, right? How many miles were on the previous (broken) timing belt when it snapped?

I know the feeling... There's a bunch of stuff going on with mine, but I figure if I buy another car, I'd have to learn how to deal with its problems, while with the lude I know what is wrong and how to work on the car. Stick it out... things should get better

Heh, at least you don't go through control arms 3 times a year for little aparent reason (nobody else has the problems I do w/ those things)...maybe I'm just to big of a Honkey for my lude, hehe.

i had just over 100k. that's the thing i think...i bought it with 88k on it and the previous owner didn't take as good of care of it as we all do. so random **** just happens and i get stuck with the bill.

if i do sell it, its gonna be problem free ... or at least i will be up front and honest with the buyer.

we will see...i have an uncle that works at a subie dealer and where i live the winters are horrible..so im gonna see what he can do for me; possibly a 2.5RS if not a WRX.

Yeah, WRXs are nice. I don't want to be the "I told you so" *****, but the recommended belt change for Preludes is 90k, and that's even too steep, in fact I've heard of a lot belts braking on preludes at 80 or somewhere between 80 and 90. Oh well, what's done is done.

I don't think you should blame the previous owner for your negligence to change the belt.

yea, i think you should have done a complete tune up when you bought the car. it would have ended up costing the same as getting a new timing belt and valves. although i didnt replace my timing belt when i got my car, but i have a receipt showing when he replaced it so i know when to replace my belt.

timing belt breaking at just over 100k isn't exactly what I'd call "random ****."

I'd say you were fortunate it lasted as long as it did.

like the majority of people are saying.. with any used car.. you going to have the same problems.. broken this and that.. new tires, new brakes, new exhaust, new cat..blah blah blah...

a 10 year old car is goin to act like a 10 year old car

now if you get a new car.. you'd be free of those problems but now you have another problem.. where you goign to come up with the $300 plus a month.. and that's with a crazy down payment.. cause your lude isn't goign to fetch a good trade in.. sorry to say..

anywho.. i know how you feel...

i have 3 preludes..hehheh... feeling the love

my 01' needs a new clutch, timing belt along with whatever comes with that

i have 2 92's

one of them needs, new trans, new radiator, new brakes, replacement off all the ball joint boots, new hoses for everything in the engine bay, along with the timing belt, water pump.. blah blah blah

my other 92 doesn't even run yet because i'm spending all my money re-building the engine.. back to stock specs.... then who knows after that.. ball joints, exhaust.. blah blah blah and then i'll have to deal with whatever problems the 4ws will give

but i love my preludes and will never trade them in for anything

hate to beat a dead horse, but the as they pointed out, the logic makes no sense. Also, any car you get will require basic maintenance, which is everything you listed before.
