thinking about getting 92si what do you think

i found a 92 prelude si automatic 30k on engine and 145 or so on the body but heres the thing when i drove it.. it would shift kinda hard and at a some what high rpm (the guy said all hondas shift like that.. i personally i know nothing bout these car) so that makes me think that the trannys bad....... and another thing when i took my foot of the gas i cant remember exactly but it was wierd and he said it was that cuz its a 4sp? with no overdrive and when coming to a stop the rpms would kinda float so you would have to put it in neutral then back into D to stop easier and he said that was because he tighten something with the throttle? im just wondering the truths and the lies of his explanations now hes asking $2000 ....... and he also said he could get me a rebuilt stranded 5sp with titanium gears and installed for only $300 all together i personally think thats bull**** but what ever info you guys can tell me would be greatly appreciated

As the owner of a 92 si auto with 258,000 miles i can tell you that no it is not normal for it to shift hard and the shifting outta D to stop easier means something is really wrong. Either never talk to that person eaver again or slap the crap outta him then never talk to him again.

dont waste ur time man all auto tranny should Drive and stop in D with no problems and the shifts should be near unnoticeable and rpm's should normally accelerate and decelerate according to the position of your right foot, and as far as skyy said I couldn't have said it better my self SLAP THE CRAP OUT OF HIM AND NEVER TALK TO HIM AGAIN!!!
or a good ol' fashioned chair smack just because I hate shady lying car sellers! but thats just me stay away and find a better lude there are plenty of them out there!

I agree with what everyone says already. That is definitely a shady deal going on there. Those shifts should be very smooth and there is virtually no reason to ever have to disengage an automatic trans in "normal" driving conditions. There are much better ludes around (and 5spd!).
