Which of these two headers should I get?

I know your probably thinking its the same old question.. but no!

I decided I would not spend $300 on a header if its gonna be ****ty(DC Sports), so I figured I would spend $120-$180 on a ****ty header

These are two on ebay that I am looking at..

No Name

-all t304 stainless steel tubing/flanges
-TIG welds
-$120 shipped

OBX

-all t304 stainless steel tubing/flanges
-TIG and MIG welds
-$180 shipped

Which one of the two look the best to you as far as header design goes? I looked at the first one compared to a DC and it looks exactly the same.. same flanges everywhere, construction.. I am sure they are all probably copies of DC.. I have heard horror stories of OBX, but I have heard they have gotten better..

I can see very slight differences in the primaries shape wise, but i dunno.. I think I will go with OBX.. atleast it has a name and they do have a warranty..

The no name looks better to me. As far as the piping goes, they look the same, the no name has a better looking flange design, the obx flange looks like it's made to save a tiny bit extra metal, and it doesn't look nearly as strong as the no name.

^Looks better than the OBX to me. If OBX skimped on the design of the flange, then what else is made poorly? That flange looks terrible.

I would get the first pictured one... looks clean, nice welds. Im sure its just a DC copy, but for the money, I wouldnt complain. Modify the collector though... 2" = sucks

Don't buy the OBX I made that mistake and not is a $230not just $180 plus a bunch of labor of my own . I had it on for like 5 days and the one of the manifold to downpipe bolts stripped and also the hanger on the downpipe cracked and I had to have it welded so that cost me an extra $50 The OBX sucks. Its pretty good performance wise though but I also bought a high-flo cat. and I definately feel a difference espesially at the top. So its up to you if you wanna have to have it welded back shut cuz of the crappy welds. but now hopefully it will be fine from now on.

If you get the Megan header, can you tell us how it is in terms of quality and fitment, whether all the required gaskets are included, etc? Thanks!

yea i emailed the guy about the gaskets hardware and asked if it were a Megan header..

here is his response:

"yes it comes with bolts and gaskets, yes, they are made by MEGAN Racing, we got some special wholesale discounts from them, so price is lower."

so that answers my and your question!

I know it will turn color, any stainless header will do this.. I personally think it looks nice..

I mean the only other header to get really is a DC, and I want stainless and DC does'nt make a stainless anymore..

i think a stock manifold and a polished manifold cover look better. Are you looking to hold onto the H23 or maybe swap in the future? Honestly, (and i'm sure this isn't welcome), don't waste your money on either of those, spend it wisely (elsewhere)

I am sticking with the H23.. I am focusing more on handling/suspension.. I plan to autox quite a bit with this car, and the H23 is perfect for that.. but yea I figure for $120 you cant go wrong really.. I am keeping stock exhaust and getting an electric cutout just after the header.. a few extra hp with the flip of a switch

I already run the 1/4 in 15.4x seconds consistantly with just an intake and free mods.. just goes to show the proper setup(suspension motor mount inserts) and a well running car is just as important on engine mods!

well, I wouldn't say the H23 is PERFECT for auto-x, there's plenty to be desired from it. And yeah, you can go wrong by spending $120 on it lol, I honestly would wager the stock manifold to do just as well, but who knows.

I will tell you the aftermath and estimated gains with the new header when i get it.. I don't imagine any more than 3-5 hp probably.. but its better to spend $120 to get that power than $300 lol! What I meant when i said "perfect" was it has a pretty good torque curve..

^^ I should hope you get that much, I don't have faith in either of the above two, or for that matter the crap DC i have on my car. I don't even know about "pretty good torque curve", I mean, better than H22, yes. The Spec-V, now THAT'S a pretty good tq curve lol.

Thats not bad at all for the price paid, it's certainly a DC knock off but like you said better price and better welds.
