Thermostat question

Ok well i replaced my radiator and my car is still over heating. I have replaced the fans, both fan switches, and the thermostat.

So i was thinking since the thermo is the first thing i replaced and the car kept over heating for around 2 months off and on maybe the thermo has worn out since its been under so much heat. Think this could be true? Any other ideas why my car is over heating?

I think he's talking about the 2 ECT Fan Switch sensors... they're located in the housing of both top and bottom radiator hoses...

Is your engine ACTuALLY overheating? or are you just getting the idea because of the gauge in the car? The car may be fine but the temp gauge is out of whack... 50/50 coolant in there? hehe

I don't know if this would be a problem with the headgasket. I know my older DSM had that problem of overheating and it turned out to be the headgasket was leaking coolant in super small amounts and didn't even burn white smoke. Just a thought.

When the headgasket goes out doesn't the reserve tank fill up and over flow? Check that.

You didn't say anything about your water pump. I assume it's working properly?

and i say this every time, it could be something as small as a o good radiator cap. When that cap cant hold the correct PSI in the cooling system, it isnt effective anymore. Just a thought

i think my problem could be the head gasket, cause i check my coolent and i had to add about 2 liters of coolant but its not leaking down any where under the car that i can find. How hard is it to get to the head gasket, ive never done it on this engine.

Its not the radiator cap ive checked that, and the fact that the coolant was low makes me think its actually overheating and the fact that the lower radiator hose was VERY hot makes me think its overheating

when your car warmed up.. check your dip stick... if you see A LOT of bubbles.... it means you have coolant mixing w/ oil...

as far as changing a head gasket....

you just need to remove the head to get to it....

The coolant hoses should be hot though after the car is warmed up.
