thermostat help !!!

aite...i have a 92 si...auto....i bought one thermostat because i was told if my engine was over heating when the car stops...example: at a red light .......to correct this problem would be the thermostat rite?...hope so...well..i bought only one...is one all i need?.....cuz there's the upper radiator hose..and the lower one by the intake...which one do i replace....or is it both?...thanx...

There is only one thermostat. It is located on the top radiator hose connected to the head. Once you remove the bolts which separate the radiator hose from the head you will see the thermostat in the thermostat housing (which will still be connected to the hose).

Actually the thermostat is located at the end of the Lower radiator hose connected to the back of the block. Just follow the lower hose to the back of the block, and look at the little housing that it connects to. There should be a nipple on the top of the housing. There are 2 bolts that hold the housing together. I hope that you didn't buy a thermostat from a parts store. pay the extra money and get a Honda one. If you got an aftermarket one you will see why I say this when you pull out the the stocker. And make sure that the little metal nub on the thermostat is facing up. there should be an arrow showing which way is up, make sure you bleed the cooling system when you are done.
