Well as I'm unsure of the whole physics behind it, i'm sure you know of blacktrax since you're in the bay, if you really are curious you can call jei and he can try explaining to you the reason. I know what we feel isn't a figment of our imagination. I appologize for dragging this on as i'm not trying to argue with anyone but just trying to get accross what i know from experience while driving the car.

congrats on getting the brakes done man (back on topic). I ended up having my rotors turned this weekend, and it reminded me of how much of a fun time you were having
...back to replacing those rotor screws... I didn't end up putting mine back in, and i feel absolutley NO vibrations or shaking while driving, or braking. So, maybe some people have different results.. but mine came out just fine.
Hey guys, I just did my brakes but still need to turn them and install the front brake pads and I can't get my rotor out...I drilled the head of the screw since it was stripped and there's a sort of a Hub that seems to be holding the rotor in place. Where can I go from here?
There should be two screws per rotor if i recall correctly.
If its been a while since any brake work was done then you may have to take a hammer and tap the rotor loose. Thats the only think I can think of.
Nice thread revival, lol. I almost forgot i started it!
Yes, use a LARGE hammer to knock your rotors loose once the screws are out. I kept tapping them with a small hammer. Nothing for days. Went out to Sears and bought a nice large heavy hammer. One good whack broke them loose
that's not it. I already took out the screws but theres still this fat six sided hub thats holding the rotor on.
Assuming you're talking about the front rotors, that's the axle nut and its not holding it on. If you got the screws out and it doesn't come out, as was said, use a big hammer. 2lb rubber mallet or a sledgehammer will do the trick... Sledgehammer works best.
ahh..really damn...cause I was doing as was told or actually common sense and it didn't budge...:/ I'll try to get some pics in a few days and explain clearly.
anyone wanna do a quick run down of the procedure for replacing the pads as well?
Man, there are alot of people that dont know how to search...
1.) Take the wheel off
2.) Unbolt the lower caliper bolt
3.) loosen the top caliper bolt
4.) Pull out old pads
5.) Push in the caliper piston with a C-clamp
6.) Install new pads and tighten both bolts on the caliper.
The old write ups didnt work last time i tried to look at them. I was just worried about the shims and stuff like that I didnt know if it was easy to mess up or not
